We offer one award of $10,000 each academic year. Proposed research projects should make a significant contribution to ongoing scholarly and\/or policy debates in the field of human rights.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Manisha Desai, <\/strong><em>Professor, Sociology &amp; Asian and Asian American Studies<\/em><br \/>\n&#8220;Women\u2019s Rights, Land Rights, and Climate Justice&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/humanrights.uconn.edu\/funding\/for-faculty\/#small-grants\"><strong>2022 Small Grants for Faculty &amp; Staff Research in Human Rights<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><em>Our research grant competition for the faculty and staff supports and promotes research projects on human rights related questions. Projects should make a significant contribution to ongoing scholarly and\/or policy debates in the field of human rights.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeremy Pressman<\/strong>,<em> Professor, Department of Political Science &amp; Director, Middle East Studies<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>David Richards<\/strong>, <em>Associate Professor, Departments of Political Science &amp; Human Rights<\/em><br \/>\n\u201cEvaluating Israel\u2019s Claim of Exceptional Negative Treatment\u00a0About Human Rights Violations\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/humanrights.uconn.edu\/funding\/for-graduates-students\/#dissertation-writing\"><strong>2022 Dissertation Writing Fellowship<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><em>In an effort to support UConn graduate students writing doctoral dissertations with a human rights focus, the Human Rights Institute selected one $10,000 dissertation fellowship awardee for the 2022-23 academic year.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Imge Akaslan,<\/strong><em> Doctoral Candidate, Department of Political Science<\/em><br \/>\n\u201cGlobal Labor Rights Enforcement in Small and Medium-sized Textile Firms \u2013 Lessons from Turkey\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>This fellowship was made possible through generous support of the Sanford J. Plepler `52 Fellowship award.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/humanrights.uconn.edu\/funding\/for-graduates-students\/#dissertation-research\"><strong>2022 Dissertation Research Fellowship<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><em>In an effort to support primary research activities, the Human Rights Institute will fund a $5,000 dissertation research fellowship for the 2022-2023 academic year.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Maria Hall-Faul, MSSW<\/strong>, <em>Doctoral Candidate, School of Social Work<\/em><br \/>\n&#8220;The Role of Devolution in Social and Economic Rights Fulfillment: The Case of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families in Connecticut&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/humanrights.uconn.edu\/funding\/for-graduates-students\/#research\"><strong>2022 Graduate Student Research Grant<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><em>The Human Rights Institute announces the Human Rights Research Grant Competition for graduate students at the University of Connecticut. The objective of the competition is to support and promote research projects on human rights related questions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Madeline Baird,<\/strong> <em>PhD Candidate, Department of Anthropology\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n&#8220;Ethnographic research on the socio-ecological impact and right to health for migrant peoples \u2018in transit\u2019 through Dari\u00e9n, Panam\u00e1&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rianka Roy,<\/strong><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong> PhD Candidate, Department of Sociology<\/em><br \/>\n&#8220;Mapping Transnational Rights: Indian Tech Workers\u2019 Mobilization in India and the US&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Luria,<\/strong><em> PhD Candidate, Educational Psychology<\/em><br \/>\n&#8220;Towards Equity Mindsets: A Tool for Evaluating the Equitable Self&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/humanrights.uconn.edu\/funding\/for-undergraduates\/#summer-fellow\"><strong>2022 HRI Internship Fellowship Awardees<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><em>Our Summer Internship Fellow Program grew out of a desire to help students find internship placements at premier human rights organizations and respected international initiatives. We have proudly developed dedicated placements for UConn human rights students and facilitate the recruitment and selection process.
