Braccio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>John W. Braccio (M.S. Civil Engineering, \u201982) has been named chief executive officer of the water and infrastructure engineering firm <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wright-pierce.com\/\">Wright-Pierce<\/a>. Braccio has been with the company for 30 years, most recently as senior vice president in charge of wastewater engineering in southern New England.\u00a0 In his new role, he will oversee the firm&#8217;s seven offices in New England.\u00a0 Braccio succeeds William E. Chemical Engineering, \u201802) joined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schneider-electric.com\/site\/home\/index.cfm\/ww\/\">Schneider Electric<\/a> as a senior combined heat and power engineer. In this position, Friedman will develop and prepare financial models for combined heat and power (CHP), energy efficiency and microgrid projects for federal, state, municipal, commercial and industrial customers.\u00a0 Licensed by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aeecenter.org\/i4a\/pages\/index.cfm?pageid=1\">Association of Energy Engineers<\/a> as a Certified Energy Manager and Certified Management &amp; Verification Professional, Friedman earned his MBA in finance from the UConn School of Business.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_19197\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19197\" style=\"width: 107px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Udayarka-Karra.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19197 img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Udayarka-Karra.jpg\" alt=\"Udayarka Karra\" width=\"107\" height=\"161\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 107px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 107\/161;\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-19197\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Udayarka Karra<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Udayarka Karra (Ph.D. Environmental Engineering, \u201814) joined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wright-pierce.com\/\">Wright-Pierce<\/a> as a wastewater process engineer. In this position, he will focus on biological treatment process modeling and design for wastewater treatment plants. Karra recently completed his doctoral program at UConn with research focused on bio-energy production and Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC) technology.\u00a0\u00a0 In 2012, he received the <a href=\"http:\/\/ecohusky.uconn.edu\/outreach\/ela-2012.html\">Environmental Leadership Award<\/a> from the UConn Office of Environmental Policy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_19198\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19198\" style=\"width: 100px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Matthew-F.-Tellier.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19198 size-full img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/Matthew-F.-Tellier.jpg\" alt=\"Matthew F. Tellier<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Matthew F. Tellier (B.S. Electrical Engineering, \u201893) was the featured presenter in an educational <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amci.com\/videos\/understanding-plc-based-stepper-motion-control-video.asp\">webinar<\/a> describing the basics of PLC-based stepper motion control sponsored by Advanced Micro Controls Inc. (<a href=\"http:\/\/amci.com\/\">AMCI<\/a>). Hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rockwellautomation.com\/rockwellautomation\/news\/the-journal\/overview.page\">The JOURNAL from Rockwell Automation<\/a>, the webinar explained the basic parts of a stepper system, how they integrate with PLCs and how they compare with servos. Other stepper related topics included EtherNet\/IP&#x2122;, applications and case studies.
