{"id":192973,"date":"2022-12-04T15:16:21","date_gmt":"2022-12-04T20:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=192973"},"modified":"2022-12-04T15:16:21","modified_gmt":"2022-12-04T20:16:21","slug":"huskies-headed-to-myrtle-beach-bowl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2022\/12\/huskies-headed-to-myrtle-beach-bowl\/","title":{"rendered":"Huskies Headed to Myrtle Beach Bowl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UConn Huskies are headed back to the postseason for the first time since 2015 having accepted an invitation to play in the Myrtle Beach Bowl on December 19.<\/p>\n<p>The Huskies will take on the Marshall Thundering Herd from the Sun Belt Conference at Brooks Stadium (20,000) on the campus of Coastal Carolina University. \u00a0Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 pm and the game will air nationally on ESPN and the ESPN App.<\/p>\n<p>More information on ticketing in the UConn seat block will be coming soon. We encourage fans to buy through UConn to directly support the bowl experience for our student-athletes and show the nation how UConn bleeds blue! Fans who cannot attend the game, but still want to support the Huskies, can donate tickets to UConn students and\/or groups in the local community. More information on ticket donation coming soon.<\/p>\n<p>UConn and Marshall have met just once before, in the 2015 St. Petersburg Bowl where the Thundering Herd posted a 16-10 win at Tropicana Field.<\/p>\n<p>Under first year head coach\u00a0<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/uconnhuskies.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/coaches\/jim-mora\/993\" rel=\"smarttag\" rev=\"993\">Jim Mora<\/a><\/dfn>, the Huskies battled their way to a 6-6 record in 2022, winning five of their last seven and finishing the season 5-1 at home in Pratt &amp; Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.\u00a0 UConn&#8217;s six wins was the most for the program since 2015 when they last played in a bowl game.\u00a0 The Huskies became bowl eligible with their upset win at home over No. 19 nationally ranked Liberty, 36-33.<\/p>\n<p>Mora will be coaching in his fifth postseason bowl game after leading UCLA to the postseason in each of his first four seasons on the sidelines for the Bruins.\u00a0 Mora&#8217;s UCLA teams were 2-2 in bowl games.<\/p>\n<p>The Huskies are 3-3 in their previous six bowl appearances.<\/p>\n<p>The Thundering Herd is led by second year head coach Charles Huff and come into the postseason winners of four-straight and five of their last six to finish 8-4 on the season.\u00a0 Marshall made their debut in the Sun Belt Conference in 2022 and finished 5-3, good for third place in the East Division.\u00a0 The Thundering Herd&#8217;s signature win this season came on the road with a 26-21 upset over No. 8 nationally ranked Notre Dame.<\/p>\n<p>For all the latest information on the Huskies&#8217;
