UConn Today celebrates its first birthday.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Summer of 2009 was bittersweet.\u00a0 For those who love the look and feel of newsprint, saying good bye to the venerable weekly, UConn Advance<\/em>, wasn\u2019t easy.\u00a0 The publication had been around since 1970, serving as the university\u2019s primary means of communication with faculty and staff.\u00a0 Advance<\/em> was like an old and reliable friend.\u00a0 Always there when needed.\u00a0 Ready to deliver news in an interesting, accurate, and informative way.<\/p>\n

And then?\u00a0 On August 21, <\/sup>2009 the new kid made its debut.\u00a0 UConn Today<\/em><\/a> arrived electronically.\u00a0 With colorful graphics, audio and video, and the ability to respond to breaking news in minutes rather than days, we entered the 21st<\/sup> century with our ability to communicate with faculty, staff, and other friends of UConn<\/a><\/p>\n

Covering all facets of university life, UConn Today<\/em> hones in on a wide variety of categories including campus news & life, national & world issues, health & science, arts & culture, and athletics.\u00a0 Topics are current and communication with our readership through Facebook<\/a>, Twitter<\/a>, You Tube<\/a> and email makes the publication vibrant and interactive.<\/p>\n

University Communications <\/a> continues to maintain excellent relationships with a wide variety of university departments, regional campuses and professional programs, and individual bloggers.\u00a0 We willingly share stories that deserve a wider audience. And we look forward to the beginning of each academic year with the same level of anticipation that we had when we were incoming freshmen.\u00a0 We\u2019re eagerly anticipating all the new experiences we\u2019ll encounter around campus, and we want to share our excitement with our friends, both old and new.<\/p>\n

As we start our second year of publication, we invite our readers to visit UConn Today<\/em><\/a> often and to contact us with comments, questions, and suggestions.\u00a0 The University of Connecticut is \u2018our\u2019 university, and we love telling its story.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
