{"id":195053,"date":"2023-02-03T07:15:50","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T12:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=195053"},"modified":"2023-05-25T09:19:02","modified_gmt":"2023-05-25T13:19:02","slug":"online-graduate-programs-lauded-in-national-rankings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2023\/02\/online-graduate-programs-lauded-in-national-rankings\/","title":{"rendered":"Online Graduate Programs Lauded in National Rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The online master\u2019s programs offered by the School of Nursing, School of Business, and School of Engineering are among the best in the country, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/education\/online-education\/university-of-connecticut-129020\">new rankings by U.S. News &amp; World Report.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese placements are among very strong groups of national universities and, among that select company, UConn is serving an above-average number of students at a below-average cost per credit,\u201d says UConn President Radenka Maric. \u201cThis is much deserved recognition for the outstanding work being done in our online graduate programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest rankings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The online Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program in the School of Business is No. 6 nationally, up from No. 7 last year and No. 11 two years ago.<\/li>\n<li>The online Master of Science in Nursing program is No. 18 nationally, making it the highest ranked program among nursing schools in New England.<\/li>\n<li>The online Master of Science in Engineering program is No. 37 nationally, 10 spots higher than last year, and 25 spots higher than two years ago.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>U.S. News\u00a0ranks programs according to their performance across a set of indicators of excellence, including faculty credentials, student engagement, reputation in both academic and industry circles, graduation rates, class size, online teaching best practices, support services, and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe continued recognition of the program is satisfying, and reflects our faculty\u2019s longstanding commitment to quality instruction,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.business.uconn.edu\/2023\/01\/24\/u-s-news-ranks-msa-program-among-the-best-in-nation-for-ninth-consecutive-year\/\">says Professor\u00a0George Plesko<\/a>, head of the Accounting Department. \u201cWe\u2019ve been online for 20 years, so we have a strong foundation and experience in how to provide effective online education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The annual rankings only include degree-granting programs that are offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis prestigious ranking reflects students\u2019 hard work in a competitive program and our faculty\u2019s continued dedication to their students\u2019 success.\u00a0 I am delighted that for the first time all of our master\u2019s tracks, not just our highly rated Neonatal Nurse Practitioner track, have contributed to our No. 18 ranking,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2023\/01\/school-of-nursing-ranks-among-top-20-online-masters-programs-for-2023\/\">Deborah Chyun, Dean of the School of Nursing, says.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>UConn Engineering\u2019s 20-plus online masters, professional development, and certificate programs, housed under the School\u2019s Professional Education department, range from certificates in contaminated site remediation to Master\u2019s of Engineering in Data Science. The programs are designed to be flexible to the schedules of working professionals, while also helping to advance their careers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis recognition is clear proof that our online Master of Engineering program is making positive waves across the country,\u201d says School of Engineering Professional Education Program Director Nora Sutton. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to have jumped up 10 spots, especially when students are more selective than ever in their online program choices. Our quality faculty are carefully crafting classes for the next generation of Connecticut\u2019s engineers.
