{"id":196024,"date":"2023-03-02T14:16:58","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T19:16:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=196024"},"modified":"2023-06-27T12:43:29","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T16:43:29","slug":"3-uconn-health-nurses-recognized-for-outstanding-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2023\/03\/3-uconn-health-nurses-recognized-for-outstanding-care\/","title":{"rendered":"3 UConn Health Nurses Recognized for Outstanding Care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nurses from three separate areas at UConn Health will share the 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/neurosurgery\/education-and-training\/dr-richard-simon-excellence-in-clinical-neurosciences-award\/\">Dr. Richard Simon Excellence in Clinical Neurosciences Award<\/a>: Tara Holm, Jennifer Pickert, and Meagan Zolla.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 2020, the honor recognizes a \u201cclinician, staff member, or student who exemplifies excellence in any area of the neurosciences at UConn Health.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/facultydirectory.uchc.edu\/profile?profileId=Simon-Richard\">Simon<\/a> is a professor of surgery in the Division of Neurosurgery and the UConn John Dempsey Hospital\u2019s chief of medical staff. (Tina Encarnacion\/UConn Health)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From her nomination:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cShe is a tremendous, energetic and extremely dedicated OR nurse\u2026 We can always count on Tara to be detail-oriented, proactive, prepared, and ready to help and troubleshoot whenever she can. She somehow masterfully manages her assigned OR room but goes above and beyond by making herself available to help troubleshoot issues or help in other rooms as well\u2026 I think we must recognize and honor the stellar example Tara sets.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so grateful and humbled to receive this award,\u201d says Holm, who plans to continue in the OR after finishing her training to become a family nurse practitioner later this year. \u201cI feel so fortunate to truly love what I do every day. (Tina Encarnacion\/UConn Health)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From her nomination:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cWhile working with our Parkinson\u2019s disease population, she recognized the need for patient advocacy and established herself as the designated Parkinson\u2019s Foundation\u2019s patient ambassador. She actively participates in educating the patients and staff members regarding care for Parkinson\u2019s patients in an inpatient environment. She continues to be an avid patient advocate. In the last year, Jennifer has played a vital role in the interdisciplinary Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Clinic, and helps coordinate care for patients among different specialties.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so honored to be chosen as one of the recipients to receive this award,\u201d Pickert says. \u201cIt is my privilege to support patients throughout the Normal Hydrocephalous Clinic process.
