{"id":197112,"date":"2023-04-03T07:41:19","date_gmt":"2023-04-03T11:41:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=197112"},"modified":"2023-06-27T12:57:06","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T16:57:06","slug":"huskies-looking-to-make-their-history-add-to-programs-legacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2023\/04\/huskies-looking-to-make-their-history-add-to-programs-legacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Huskies Looking to Make History, Add to Program&#8217;s Legacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year\u2019s UConn men\u2019s basketball team is looking to make history on Monday night as the Huskies play for the NCAA Division I national championship \u2013 and add to the legacy of their storied program.<\/p>\n<p>UConn takes on the San Diego State University Aztecs on Monday night at 9:20 p.m. EDT from Houston\u2019s NRG Stadium. They have been so dynamic and supreme this year. They work so well together on and off the court, they are like a family. You can just see it and how they work so well together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bosco attended the game watch at Gampel Pavilion on Saturday night and plans to be there again on Monday. She was joined by her friend \u2013 Maria Luca \u201923 (ED) from Palatine, Illinois.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI grew up watching March Madness with my dad, so I always get excited this time of year,\u201d says Luca. \u201cIn terms of this year, it\u2019s really exciting. Our team has great unity which shows how really close they are. It\u2019s really exciting to be a fan and get to see that and represent UConn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both Bosco and Luca are aware of the excitement and passion that the Final Four can bring to a college campus and know that good behavior and safety are important.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt so fun and the energy is exciting, but we are all on high alert right now,\u201d says Bosco. \u201cThat is definitely on everyone\u2019s mind. Four of the previous five cut down the nets. The Huskies are also 16-0 in non-conference games this year, showing the strength of the Big East Conference.<\/p>\n<p>From a historical perspective, a win on Monday night would give the Huskies their fifth national championship \u2013 all of them in the last 25 years. UConn would move into a tie for fourth place with the most national titles ever, joining Duke and Indiana.
