{"id":202490,"date":"2023-08-08T16:55:17","date_gmt":"2023-08-08T20:55:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=202490"},"modified":"2023-08-10T18:54:31","modified_gmt":"2023-08-10T22:54:31","slug":"uconn-health-and-jax-partner-in-connecticut-to-improve-the-lives-of-those-impacted-by-endometriosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2023\/08\/uconn-health-and-jax-partner-in-connecticut-to-improve-the-lives-of-those-impacted-by-endometriosis\/","title":{"rendered":"UConn Health and JAX partner in Connecticut to Improve the Lives of those Impacted by Endometriosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/facultydirectory.uchc.edu\/profile?profileId=Luciano-Danielle\">Danielle Luciano, M.D.,<\/a> director for the Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery at UConn Health (which is an endometriosis reference center and <a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2023\/02\/uconn-john-dempsey-hospital-awarded-seven-womens-choice-awards-for-best-hospital\/\">recognized leader in women\u2019s health<\/a>), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jax.org\/people\/elise-courtois\">Elise Courtois, Ph.D.<\/a>, an endometriosis researcher and director of Single Cell Biology at JAX have partnered to understanding endometriosis.\u00a0 Luciano and Courtois have joined forces with Connecticut state Rep. Jillian Gilchrest and are part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housedems.ct.gov\/Endo\">Endometriosis Working Group<\/a> established last year to increase awareness of endometriosis and expand access to care. This group\u2019s priorities include creating an endometriosis data and biorepository program \u2013 the first public, multi-institution biorepository of its kind \u2013 and facilitating endometriosis education training for school nurses.<\/p>\n<p>The endometriosis data and biorepository program is the nation&#8217;s first public, multi-institution biorepository.
