The event, held at the Jorgensen Center for Performing Arts on the UConn Storrs campus, brought together the student recipients of this year\u2019s Neag School-affiliated scholarships, their guests, and the donors whose contributions to the School make these crucial sources of financial support possible.<\/p>\n<p>Scholarship support comes from a wide range of individuals \u2013 including Neag School benefactors Ray and Carole Neag, as well as Neag School and UConn alumni; current University faculty and administrators; and families of former Neag School staff and alumni, among others.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=a.10153560826676765.1073741980.54435971764&amp;type=3\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-12516 size-medium img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/education.uconn.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1621\/2016\/04\/Button_FB-Album-Honors-Celebration-400x250.jpg\" alt=\"Button_FB-Album-Honors-Celebration\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 400px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 400\/250;\" \/><\/a>During the reception preceding the formal ceremony, student recipients had an opportunity to connect personally with the donors responsible for providing their scholarship support. Among the student award recipients this year is Luis Organista \u201914 (CAHNR), a UConn alum entering the Neag School\u2019s Teacher Certification Program for College Graduates (TCPCG) this May.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/education.uconn.edu\/2016\/04\/14\/recently-established-pichette-scholarship-names-first-neag-school-student-recipient\/\">Named the first student recipient of the newly established Valerie J. Pichette Scholarship Fund<\/a>, he met with members of the Pichette family, who established the fund in Valerie Pichette\u2019s memory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that they maybe will follow me in my career and see where I head so that they can see the potential that I\u2019ve reached,\u201d Organista said.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Student scholarship recipients are selected by members of the Neag Alumni Board, who review applications throughout the fall semester.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the student awards, Neag School associate\u00a0professor\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/education.uconn.edu\/person\/todd-campbell\/\">Todd Campbell<\/a>\u00a0received the David Blick Science Education Award, and RoseAnne Vojtek, principal of Ivy Drive Elementary School in Bristol, Conn., received the UCEA Educational Leadership\u00a0Award.<\/p>\n<h2>Congratulations to this year\u2019s award recipients:<\/h2>\n<h4><strong>UCEA EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARD<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) is a\u00a0membership association of higher education institutions that promotes\u00a0excellence in continuing higher education. This award is in recognition of\u00a0practicing school administrators who have made neynificant contributions to\u00a0the improvement of administrator preparation.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. RoseAnne Vojtek,<br \/>\nPrincipal, Ivy Drive Elementary School, Bristol, Conn.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>NEAG SCHOOL OF EDUCATION ALUMNI SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This scholarship is awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Neag School.\u00a0This fund was established by the Neag School Alumni Society and recently\u00a0funded by Neag School alumni and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Alexandra Cichon<\/p>\n<p>Brittany Guard<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>TEACHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Friends &amp; Colleagues of Francis X. This scholarship provides support to a Ph.D. candidate\u00a0in the field of measurement, evaluation and assessment, who demonstrates\u00a0academic excellence.<\/p>\n<p>David Alexandro<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arminio\/Effron Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Established by Carmen Effron in memory of her father, Kenneth Arminio. Singer to provide\u00a0scholarship support for University students enrolled in the Neag School\u00a0of Education, with priority consideration to those students who are also\u00a0enrolled in the University\u2019s Honors Program.<\/p>\n<p>Alexandra Grant<\/p>\n<p><strong>Husky Teach Noyce Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Funded by the National Science Foundation and competitively available to\u00a0universities, Noyce Scholarships support STEM education throughout the\u00a0United States. UConn\u2019s Noyce program, called Husky Teach, is situated at the\u00a0Avery Point campus. Todd Campbell<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrews International Education Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fund was established by Dr. Frank Andrews Stone in honor of his mother,\u00a0Ruth, and her five siblings, originally of Pasadena, Calif., whose careers\u00a0demonstrated concern for international awareness and understanding.<\/p>\n<p>LaShawna Thompson<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Betty Bussman Education Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This scholarship was established through the generosity of Mrs. Betty\u00a0Bussman and is awarded to undergraduate or graduate students who are\u00a0planning careers in elementary education. Meagher Undergraduate Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Established by the Beta Sigma Chapter of Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society\u00a0as a tribute to the many contributions and leadership of Judith Meagher,\u00a0professor emeritus and former Associate Dean of the Neag School.<\/p>\n<p>Madison Corlett<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniel Thomas Perley Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Established in memory of Daniel Thomas Perley by his wife, this scholarship\u00a0is awarded to incoming fifth-year students in the IB\/M Program who have\u00a0demonstrated academic achievement in the area of elementary education.<\/p>\n<p>Dominique Grello<\/p>\n<p><strong>Philo T. Pritzkau Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Established to provide an award to outstanding minority Neag School\u00a0graduate students who have shown exemplary scholarship and leadership\u00a0in research and teaching. This award was established by the students and\u00a0friends of Dr. Philo T. Nicholls Scholarship in Educational Leadership<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This scholarship was established by friends, family, and colleagues of Dr.\u00a0Peter J. Nicholls, former Provost of the University of Connecticut. This\u00a0scholarship provides support to a graduate student(s) enrolled in the Higher\u00a0Education and Student Affairs (HESA) program.<\/p>\n<p>Yamiesha Bell<\/p>\n<p><strong>Karen L. Parizeau Memorial Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Established to honor the memory and work of Karen Parizeau, a beloved\u00a0teacher, this scholarship was created by donations from her husband,\u00a0Philip, their children, Lauren and Philip, and her friends and colleagues.\u00a0It is intended for experienced teachers pursuing careers in education\u00a0administration, particularly at the middle-school level.<\/p>\n<p>Alexis Stolarun<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Steven J.
