The School of Engineering will hold commencement ceremonies for graduating undergraduates<\/em> on Sunday, May 8<\/strong> in the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts<\/a><\/span>. \u00a0\"\"<\/a>Graduate <\/em>students will celebrate commencement on Saturday, May 7<\/strong> in Gampel Pavilion (see details here<\/a> and below).<\/p>\n

For complete information regarding the undergraduate commencement 2011 events, please click here<\/a>. Following are a few highlights regarding the undergraduate commencement ceremonies.<\/p>\n

Seating will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the event will formally commence in the Jorgensen Center at 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

From 9:30 \u2013 11:30 a.m., graduating students and their families are invited to an informal engineering reception (RSVP required) to be held in the Northwest Dining Hall<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s commencement speaker will be Dr. Charles M. Vest<\/a>, President of the prestigious National Academy of Engineering and President Emeritus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who will also receive an Honorary Doctoral degree from UConn.<\/p>\n

Students are limited to five<\/strong> tickets, which must be obtained in advance at the UConn Co-op after seniors purchase their caps and gowns.<\/p>\n

Graduate Student Commencement<\/strong><\/p>\n

The School of Engineering will hold a reception prior to the Saturday, May 7 graduate student commencement ceremonies.\u00a0 Please join us in the Information Technologies Engineering Building (ITEB) foyer from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. All master\u2019s and doctoral degree recipients and candidates and their guests are invited to this event. A buffet brunch will be available. Note: Individuals who completed or plan to complete graduate degree requirements during the Spring 2011 degree conferral period must apply for their degrees on-line<\/a> no later than April 1st<\/sup><\/strong> using the PeopleSoft student administration system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
