Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engr.uconn.edu\/alumni\/\">http:\/\/www.engr.uconn.edu\/alumni\/<\/a> and fill us in on your latest activities or learn what your college friends are doing nowadays!\u00a0 Some recent alumni news follows.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/nisar-ahmed\/7\/4b7\/684\">Nisar Ahmed<\/a> <\/strong>(Ph.D. Electrical Engineering, \u201807) joined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freescale.com\/\">Freescale Semiconductor<\/a>, Austin, TX in March as a Senior DFT Engineer. He was previously employed as a DFT Engineer and Design Engineer with Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX and in Bangalore, India.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Peter Himes<\/strong> (B.S. Electrical Engineering \u201881), MBA was appointed Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Alliances for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.silexmicrosystems.com\/default.asp?active_page_id=1\">Silex Microsystems<\/a>, the world\u2019s largest pure-play MEMS foundry.\u00a0 He was previously employed at National Semiconductor, Winbond Corporation, SiTime, and \u2013 most recently \u2013 QuickSil as President, until the niche wafer foundry was sold.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faisal Hossain <\/strong>(Ph.D. Environmental Engineering \u201904), an associate professor in the Civil &amp; Environmental Engineering Department of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tntech.edu\/\">Tennessee Tech University<\/a>, was invited by the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment to present his work on the effect of large reservoirs on regional climate. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tntech.edu\/people\/fhossain?Itemid=477\">Dr. Hossain<\/a> presented evidence that large dams may affect the water cycle and eventually the hydrology of the watersheds contributing to the water balance of the reservoirs. His presentation may be found <a href=\"http:\/\/iweb.tntech.edu\/fhossain\/papers\/HossainCongress.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jianxin Tang<\/strong> (Ph.D., Electrical Engineering \u201989) is a professor of Electrical Engineering at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alfred.edu\/\">Alfred University<\/a>, Alfred, NY.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/engineering.alfred.edu\/facultyandstaff\/profile.cfm?username=ftang\">Dr. Tang<\/a> specializes in digital signal processing with applications to real-time digital filtering, communication, and control; inter-networking and network security; and large scale system optimization and optimal control.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Schools of Engineering and Business will hold an Alumni Reception in Dallas, TX on Tuesday, November 15th.
