{"id":20364,"date":"2015-03-19T13:42:37","date_gmt":"2015-03-19T13:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/?p=20364"},"modified":"2025-01-28T21:30:25","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T02:30:25","slug":"soe-career-fairs-have-been-a-hit-and-theres-more-to-come","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2015\/03\/soe-career-fairs-have-been-a-hit-and-theres-more-to-come\/","title":{"rendered":"SoE Career Fairs Have Been A Hit &#8211; And There&#8217;s More To Come"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our Engineering Career Fairs have been so successful this year that a second Spring Career Fair has been added.<\/p>\n<p>The second Career\u00a0Fair takes place April 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. UCONN&#8217;s Storrs campus in the South Rome Commons Ballroom.<\/p>\n<p>John Bau, Career Consultant for the School of Engineering, said the last spring Career fair brought an unusually high\u00a0number of\u00a0companies and students when it was held in February. The fair featured 67 employers and brought 657 students \u2013 a record for the School\u2019s spring career fairs, and a good indication of the high demand for top-notch engineers in the state. It was so successful that School officials decided to hold a second one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo the collective memory of everyone in the office, there\u2019s never been a second spring career fair,\u201d Bau said.<\/p>\n<p>Career fairs are good idea for anyone preparing to enter the workforce. They give attendees a\u00a0chance to\u00a0meet prospective employers, discuss career and internship opportunities and do their best to impress.\u00a0It&#8217;s also a great way to polish job interviewing skills, learn more about summer and full-time job opportunities,\u00a0and\u00a0make crucial contacts in their field.<\/p>\n<p>The School of Engineering&#8217;s two fall career fairs also did booming business. According to Bau, the Oct. 2 fair\u00a0was the most popular fall career fair in the School&#8217;s history, with\u00a0 64 employers and\u00a0830 students attending.
