Ma<a href=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/mentors22.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-10161 img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/mentors22-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"mentors2\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/169;\" \/><\/a>nyMentors matches college students from the STEM disciplines with high school students from traditionally underrepresented populations who are interested in STEM careers.\u00a0 The volunteer organization also offers <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/media.wix.com\/ugd\/a7c20f_f0bb59a1bb56d458e469029fa8a7b4b9.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">on-site mentoring opportunities<\/span><\/a><\/span> for students at <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/moodle.cpep.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">CPEP<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.starbase-ct.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">STARBASE Connecticut<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.granvillewtby.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Gr<\/span><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.granvillewtby.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">anville Academy<\/span><\/a><\/span>, and the Workforce Alliance Council Youth Mentoring Program.<\/p>\n<p>Keshia, who is a doctoral student in the <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.regenerativeengineering.uchc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Institute of Regenerative Engineering<\/span><\/a><\/span> at the UConn Health Center, invites interested UConn students to become involved with mentoring, as well as the development of the organization\u2019s second-generation mobile app. She and co-founder Tiffiny St. Bernard hope to debut all three ManyMentors venues &#8211; on-site, online, and mobile mentoring components &#8211; by August 2013. In the meantime, they are planning a weekend \u201cSTEM-U\u201d event\u00a0to STEMulate the college experience\u00a0for local high school students, as well as a series of \u201cSTEMinars\u201d for the\u00a02013-2014 school year\u00a0geared toward preparing female STEM majors for the workplace.
