{"id":206631,"date":"2012-03-27T09:54:51","date_gmt":"2012-03-27T13:54:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=206631"},"modified":"2023-11-06T10:04:04","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T15:04:04","slug":"uconns-neag-school-ranked-among-the-nations-best-schools-of-education-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2012\/03\/uconns-neag-school-ranked-among-the-nations-best-schools-of-education-2\/","title":{"rendered":"UConn\u2019s Neag School Ranked Among the Nation\u2019s Best Schools of Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em>\u00a0released its rankings of Graduate Schools \u00a0and the\u00a0<em>Neag School of Education<\/em>\u00a0continues to achieve top-ranking status as it rose in rankings to #32 in the nation. This ranking puts the Neag School as the #1 public graduate school of education in the Northeast and #22 among all public graduate schools of education in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the #32 ranking puts the Neag School in the top 11.5 percent of all graduate schools of education surveyed by\u00a0<em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em>. In the specialty rankings, the Elementary Education program rose to #14 in the nation, the Secondary Education program rose to #17, and Educational Psychology is ranked #22 in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Each year,\u00a0<em>U.S. News<\/em>\u00a0gathers opinion data from school superintendents and deans from across the country to rank professional school programs. Thomas DeFranco, dean of the Neag School is very proud of the accomplishments of the faculty and staff in achieving this ranking \u00a0and believes the rankings serve as one of several barometers used by the Neag School to assess its reputation and quality of its programs.<\/p>\n<p>DeFranco also believes a factor helping to build the Neag School\u2019s reputation is its work with public schools in Connecticut and across the country. \u201cFaculty within the Neag School are not only focused on research and scholarship, they are committed to working in partnership with classroom teachers and educational stakeholders across the state sharing information about best practices and improving the academic performance of children,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to produce highly qualified teachers, principals, superintendents and health professionals who will impact the academic performance and health and well-being of children and adults in Connecticut and in the nation,\u201d DeFranco says.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0U.S. News &amp; World Report\u00a0released its rankings of Graduate Schools \u00a0and the\u00a0Neag School of Education\u00a0continues to achieve top-ranking status as it rose in rankings to #32 in the nation.
