UConn Health\u2019s UConn John Dempsey Hospital has been awarded a Fall 2023 \u2018A\u2019 Hospital Safety Grade<\/a>\u00a0from The Leapfrog Group.<\/p>\n

The hospital has earned straight A\u2019s in patient safety and this is its sixth consecutive top A rating in patient safety.<\/p>\n

Leapfrog is an independent watchdog organization that nationally assesses patient safety of hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers and their protection of patients from preventable harm and errors.<\/p>\n

\u201cAchieving straight A\u2019s in patient safety from Leapfrog reflects a strong culture of safety that exists from leadership all the way to the frontline staff,\u201d says Dr. Scott Allen, chief medical officer and patient safety officer at UConn Health. \u201cWe are proud of this national recognition, and it adds to our ever-growing list of awards and recognition for the outstanding quality of care that we provide to the citizens of Connecticut.\u201d<\/p>\n

Each year Leapfrog assigns an \u201cA,\u201d \u201cB,\u201d \u201cC,\u201d \u201cD\u201d or \u201cF\u201d grade in both the fall and spring to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.<\/p>\n
