{"id":206761,"date":"2023-11-09T07:01:18","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T12:01:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=206761"},"modified":"2023-11-08T11:05:39","modified_gmt":"2023-11-08T16:05:39","slug":"grammy-winner-brings-superdrive-sound-to-jorgensen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2023\/11\/grammy-winner-brings-superdrive-sound-to-jorgensen\/","title":{"rendered":"Grammy Winner Brings &#8216;Superdrive&#8217; Sound to Jorgensen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grammy winner Molly Tuttle, the first woman to win the International Bluegrass Music Association\u2019s Guitar Player of the Year Award, and her band Golden Highway will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts.<\/p>\n<p>Tuttle is heralded as leading bluegrass into a new era of sound along with such contemporaries as Billy Strings, who performed at Jorgensen in 2019.\u00a0 Her extraordinary musicianship has led her to collaborations with a variety of musicians such as Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck, Old Crow Medicine Show, Dave Matthews, and Nathaniel Rateliff.<\/p>\n<p>American Songwriter Magazine said, &#8220;[Molly Tuttle] sings with the gentle authority of Gillian Welch yet plays astoundingly fleet flat-picking guitar like Chet Atkins on superdrive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tuttle won the 2022 Grammy for her \u201cCrooked Tree\u201d album, which also won an International Folk Music Award for Album of the Year.
