To the University Community,<\/p>\n
The University community is invited to attend a series of town hall meetings this semester to discuss the budgets for UConn and UConn Health and what actions the University has taken \u2014 and plans to take \u2014 to address potential projected shortfalls.<\/p>\n
As you may be aware, this past fall the University\u2019s draft five-year budget forecast for UConn and UConn Health was shared with the deans as well as the Board of Trustees and the University Senate during public meetings. UConn Health\u2019s budget forecast was shared with its Board of Directors. In addition, the provost has been and will continue to provide updates and meet with department heads and deans at the Storrs and regional campuses, and Interim CEO Bruce Liang will continue to do the same with departments and clinical units at UConn Health.<\/p>\n
Along with UConn\u2019s Government Relations team, we will also continue to meet with legislators, the state\u2019s Office of Policy and Management (OPM), and the governor to convey the impact that the current projected shortfalls would have on the University\u2019s academic, research, and clinical missions.<\/p>\n
To ensure there is as much time as possible to address questions during the town halls, some presentation materials will be provided in advance as well as instructions on how to submit questions and watch the sessions online. While participants are encouraged to submit questions in advance, questions can also be submitted in real time during the town hall meetings.<\/p>\n
Any questions we are unable to address during the sessions will be addressed with follow-up FAQs posted afterwards.<\/p>\n
