{"id":210635,"date":"2024-03-06T09:41:24","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T14:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=210635"},"modified":"2025-09-09T14:37:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T18:37:07","slug":"raman-bahal-announced-as-nai-senior-member","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2024\/03\/raman-bahal-announced-as-nai-senior-member\/","title":{"rendered":"Raman Bahal Announced as NAI Senior Member"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/academyofinventors.org\/\">National Academy of Inventors (NAI)<\/a>\u00a0has announced the 2024 class of Senior Members, comprised of 124 emerging academic inventors from NAI\u2019s Member Institutions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/academyofinventors.org\/about-the-senior-members-program\/\">NAI Senior Members<\/a>\u00a0are active faculty, scientists, and administrators from NAI Member Institutions who have demonstrated remarkable innovation producing technologies that have brought, or aspire to bring, real impact on the welfare of society. They also have growing success in patents, licensing, and commercialization, while educating and mentoring the next generation of inventors.<\/p>\n<p>The ability to nominate an individual for NAI Senior Member recognition is an exclusive opportunity afforded to NAI Member Institutions to recognize their outstanding innovators and foster an inclusive culture of innovation and invention on their campuses. Each of these member organizations are widely regarded as innovation powerhouses that continuously promote and foster the spirit of innovation.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s class of NAI Senior Members is the largest to date and hails from 60 NAI Member Institutions across the nation. Collectively, they are named inventors on over 1000 U.S. patents with 344 of those being licensed technologies and commercialized products. The 2024 class also showcases the shared commitment to celebrate the diversity of the academic ecosystem, with 50% of this year\u2019s Senior Members being outstanding female and\/or underrepresented academic inventors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s class of Senior Members is truly a testament to the outstanding innovation happening at NAI Member Institutions and what happens when the academic space encourages and celebrates invention and commercialization,\u201d said Paul R. Sanberg, President of NAI. \u201cWe are proud to welcome these outstanding academic inventors to the Academy and look forward to supporting and celebrating them as they continue in their innovation journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 class of Senior Members will be celebrated at NAI\u2019s Annual Conference taking place June 16-18th, 2024 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
