UConn Health is the best. For the third consecutive year Newsweek has named UConn John Dempsey Hospital a World\u2019s Best Hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n

UConn\u2019s teaching hospital is one of only five Connecticut hospitals to make the 2024 World\u2019s Best Hospitals listing.<\/p>\n

In addition to being named a World\u2019s Best Hospital, UConn Health was also recognized for being outstanding in Infection Prevention, and it is the only hospital in the state to be applauded for its stellar Patient Experience.<\/p>\n

\"NewsweekNewsweek awarded UConn Health a 2024 Patient Satisfaction Award based on its analysis of publicly available data. Only hospitals like UConn John Dempsey Hospital with an outstanding performance in patient experience were additionally recognized by Newsweek for its excellence in patient experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cPatients come to UConn Health for the best innovations in care, safety, and an exceptional patient experience. We have made it our mission to put patients at the center of everything we do, and it shows,\u201d says Cindy Molin, VP of the Office of Patient Experience at UConn Health.<\/p>\n

This patient experience award was based on patient survey data (HCAHPS)\u00a0from Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the hospital\u2019s cleanliness, quietness, communication and responsiveness of nurses, doctors and staff, care transition, medicine communication, and discharge information. Newsweek also considered The Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals for hospital care, home care, and critical access care; and the hospital needed all 10 HCAHPS measures rated with at least 3 stars, at least five 4-star measures, and at least two 5-star measures.<\/p>\n

In addition to being recognized for its patient experience excellence, Newsweek once again awarded UConn for its infection prevention efforts in both 2023 and 2024.<\/p>\n

The Newsweek World\u2019s Best Hospitals ranking began in March 2019. The 2024 list includes data on 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries. The data is organized by nation and all 50 states and the District of Columbia.<\/em><\/p>\n

Newsweek\u2019s ranking powered by Statista scores hospitals by comparing them to others in the same country. This year\u2019s four data sources used for the evaluation included an international online survey sent to more than 85,000 doctors, hospital managers, and other health care\u00a0professionals; public data from post-patient hospitalization satisfaction surveys on their patient experience and satisfaction; measurement of hospital quality metrics such as patient safety, hygiene measures, waiting times and quality of treatment; and voluntary Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) on patient satisfaction with hospitals.<\/em><\/p>\n
