--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 240\/300;\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-213111\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Claire Surkis (left) and Liz Gustafson, Reproductive Equity Now CT state director, at the state Capitol (Photo provided by Claire Surkis)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A group of medical students collectively known as UConn Med Students for Choice recently accepted the\u00a0Ellen Paradise Fisher Award for Activism in Action for their advocacy for accessible reproductive rights.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were nominated for our work in partnership with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2023\/08\/uconn-medical-dental-students-complete-18th-x-country-bike-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coast to Coast for a Cause<\/a>, fundraising for the REACH Fund, having seven of our students trained as doulas through the Wesleyan Doula Project, and partnering with Reproductive Equity Now to have students and faculty testify in support of three separate bills at the CT legislature so far this spring,&#8221;
