{"id":21374,"date":"2010-09-17T14:19:42","date_gmt":"2010-09-17T18:19:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=21374"},"modified":"2010-09-24T08:41:32","modified_gmt":"2010-09-24T12:41:32","slug":"firm-selected-to-aid-presidential-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2010\/09\/firm-selected-to-aid-presidential-search\/","title":{"rendered":"Firm Selected to Aid Presidential Search"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The executive search firm of Witt-Kieffer has been selected to aid in <a href=\"http:\/\/presidentialsearch.uconn.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">the search for UConn\u2019s next president<\/a>, it was announced this morning to the <a href=\"http:\/\/presidentialsearch.uconn.edu\/scommittee.html\" target=\"_blank\">39-member committee<\/a> charged with leading the search.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1969, the firm is one of the largest executive search firms in the nation, focusing on the fields of higher education, academic medicine, healthcare, and not-for-profit. This will be the first time the University has worked with the firm on a presidential search.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSearching for and hiring a president of a major university is a labor-intensive, time-consuming undertaking,\u201d said Larry McHugh, chairman of UConn\u2019s Board of Trustees, who is leading the search committee. \u201cWitt-Kieffer\u2019s role is to help us with the heavy-lifting that is involved, so the process can move forward as aggressively and smoothly as possible. Our mission is to assemble a diverse pool of truly outstanding candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wittkieffer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The firm\u2019s website<\/a> states: \u201cOur consulting team includes former college and university presidents who understand what it means to be a sitting president. Our approach to a presidential search is as distinctive to each institution\u2019s needs as it is wide in its outreach to gifted leaders. As stewards of the process, we are sensitive to and respectful of the expectations of both the search committee and candidates. We rely on original research, in-depth interviews, and extensive reference checks to ensure the best possible match.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McHugh also announced, in keeping with the University\u2019s by-laws, a smaller steering committee made up of 12 members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/presidentialsearch.uconn.edu\/scommittee.html\" target=\"_blank\">larger group<\/a>.
