It\u2019s credited to James Lind, a Scottish physician who, as a ship\u2019s surgeon in the British Royal Navy, randomized sailors into groups to try to compare the effects of different treatments of scurvy.<\/p>\n<p>Today, 277 years later, UConn Health is running dozens of clinical trials. Here are just a few examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. Swarup Kumar is studying methods of treating multiple myeloma, including an option no other hospital in Connecticut offers. <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/cancer\/patient-services\/clinical-trials\/\">See more from the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>In the UConn School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Mark Litt is studying <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/dental\/patient-services\/oral-and-maxillofacial-surgery\/tmj-treatment\/\">methods of treating temporomandibular pain disorders (TMD) without surgery<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In the UConn Health Department of Dermatology, Dr. Jun Lu and Dr. Akua Sarfo are investigating a drug for its safety and efficacy managing moderate to severe hidradenitis suppurativa in adults and adolescents. <a href=\"https:\/\/health.uconn.edu\/dermatology\/research-clinical-trials\/\">See more from the UConn Health Dermatology Clinical Trials Unit.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>In the Claude D.
