Eight straight A\u2019s have been awarded to UConn\u2019s teaching hospital, UConn John Dempsey Hospital at UConn Health.<\/p>\n
This eighth consecutive \u201cA\u201d Hospital Safety Grade<\/a> is awarded to John Dempsey Hospital for Fall 2024 from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog. Since 2021 UConn Health has been honored with straight A\u2019s in patient safety.<\/p>\n Twice annually in the fall and spring Leapfrog assigns either an \u201cA,\u201d \u201cB,\u201d \u201cC,\u201d \u201cD\u201d or \u201cF\u201d grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance metrics measuring errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.<\/p>\n \u201cAs an academic medical center, patient safety is always our number one focus as reflected in our 8 consecutive top A-ratings for patient safety by the national Leapfrog watchdog group,\u201d says UConn Health CEO Dr. Andy Agwunobi. \u201cI am so proud of the excellent work of our hospital leadership and its entire clinical care workforce year after year making this repeat highest national patient safety recognition A-rating possible.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAchieving an \u2018A\u2019 Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment,\u201d said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. \u201cIt reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud.
