{"id":223943,"date":"2025-01-23T14:41:36","date_gmt":"2025-01-23T19:41:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=223943"},"modified":"2025-03-20T11:45:59","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T15:45:59","slug":"uconn-nursings-online-graduate-programs-rank-no-5-in-2025-us-news-world-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2025\/01\/uconn-nursings-online-graduate-programs-rank-no-5-in-2025-us-news-world-report\/","title":{"rendered":"UConn Nursing\u2019s Online Graduate Programs Rank No. 5 in 2025 US News &amp; World Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The U.S. News &amp; World Report released on Jan. 21, 2025, once again places UConn\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/education\/online-education\/university-of-connecticut-ONUR0372\/nursing\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">online nursing programs<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> among the best in the country.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rising three ranks from No. 8 in 2024, UConn\u2019s Online Graduate Nursing Program was rated as fifth overall in the U.S. The Online Nurse Educator Nurse Practitioner Master\u2019s Program was also ranked No. 5, and the Online Nursing Leadership and Administration Master\u2019s Program was No. 12.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">UConn Nursing was also rated first in Best Online Master\u2019s in Nursing Programs for Veterans.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Almost 1,800 online bachelor\u2019s and graduate programs were assessed and ranked based on ten criteria (excluding standardized testing) to include factors such as \u201cfaculty credentials and training, services and technology available to students, student engagement, and expert opinions on the academic quality of programs. Master&#8217;s degree programs, in addition to these criteria, are also ranked based on assessment of student excellence via undergraduate GPAs, acceptance rates and work experience,\u201d according to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/education\/online-education\/articles\/us-news-ranks-best-online-programs\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">2025 U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Further, UConn Nursing was among <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/education\/online-education\/university-of-connecticut-129020\">ten UConn programs<\/a> university-wide that achieved \u201cbest\u201d status.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe School of Nursing\u2019s MS program has achieved remarkable recognition, climbing the rankings due to our unwavering commitment to innovation, transformative teaching methodologies, and a culture of excellence,\u201d says professor and associate dean of graduate studies Annette Jakubi\u0161in Konicki, Ph.D., ANP-BC, FNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cBy embracing evidence-based practice, fostering experiential learning, and prioritizing student success, we continue to set new benchmarks in nursing education. This achievement underscores our dedication to shaping future health care providers and leaders.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Students from UConn Nursing\u2019s many flexible graduate education programs achieve an exceptional certification pass rate through thorough clinical experience, academic excellence, and visionary leadership committed to high-quality instruction.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Online education has become an increasingly desirable option for many students and allows for diversity and access to expand. In addition to the programs above, the School of Nursing offers an online master\u2019s (MS) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Adult Gerontology Acute Care, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Following a record-breaking year for applications and enrollment into the School of Nursing\u2019s undergraduate program, the largest cohort of 147 students graduated in December from the accelerated second bachelor\u2019s degree in nursing program, also known as Certificate of Entry into Nursing (CEIN\/BS).<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With UConn Nursing\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nursing.uconn.edu\/building-the-future-of-nursing\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">new state-of-the-art building<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> expected to open in 2026, the School aims to increase enrollment and capacity to accommodate more students and faculty as well as to increase the number of nurses in Connecticut\u2019s workforce.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cRecognition as No. 5 in the national rankings reflects UConn Nursing\u2019s commitment to high-quality graduate nursing education,\u201d says Dean Victoria Vaughan Dickson, Ph.D., RN, FAHA, FHFSA, FAAN.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cUConn Nursing faculty are passionate about the education of our students and preparing the next generation of nurse educators, nurse leaders, and advance practice nurses.
