\nHometown: <\/strong>Woodbridge, Connecticut<\/p>\n

Q: Why did you choose UConn?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> I chose UConn because I wanted to return home to Connecticut for graduate school and knew how well-respected the Neag School of Education was. I wanted to choose a university that I knew would support me in my academic and professional interests.<\/p>\n

Q: What\u2019s your major or field of study, and what drew you to it?
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> I am studying school psychology. I\u2019ve always been passionate about supporting students\u2019 emotional, social, and academic development, and it felt like the perfect fit for my interests in both psychology and education.<\/p>\n

Q: Did you have a favorite professor or class?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> My favorite class at UConn was Intellectual Assessment, which was taught by Dr. Jacqueline Caemmerer. I loved learning about different psychological assessments and how we can use them to help support our students.<\/p>\n

Q: What activities were you involved in as a student?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> I am grateful to have been involved with the UConn Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities both as a LEND fellow and as a teaching\/research assistant. I participated in training and research related to supporting individuals with disabilities in schools and the community. Shout out to Dr. Bruder and all the UCEDD staff for all their hard work and continual support of my learning!<\/p>\n

Q: What\u2019s one thing that surprised you about UConn?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> I was surprised at how much I appreciated the strong sense of community at UConn, both within my program and across the University. Even being such a large university, you always feel supported and connected.<\/p>\n

Q: What are your plans after graduation\/receiving your degree?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> After graduation, I will be working as a school psychologist in Connecticut! I am excited to be able to support diverse learners and contribute to creating positive and responsive school environments.<\/p>\n

Q: How has UConn prepared you for the next chapter in life?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> UConn has prepared me well for the next chapter in my life by providing a comprehensive, hands-on education in school psychology. I\u2019ve had opportunities to apply what I\u2019ve learned in real-world settings and created long-lasting connections with mentors who have shaped my professional growth.<\/p>\n

Q: Any advice for incoming students?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A<\/strong>: My advice for incoming students is to get involved and make connections early. The UConn community offers so many opportunities to grow personally and professionally.<\/p>\n

Q: What\u2019s one thing everyone should do during their time at UConn?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> Go watch a basketball game!<\/p>\n

Q: What will always make you think of UConn?<\/strong><\/p>\n
