In today\u2019s ever-evolving world, systems engineering is no longer optional \u2013 it\u2019s essential. From engineers and technical leads to project managers and business professionals, the ability to design, manage, and improve complex systems is a critical skill that sets leaders apart.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For many working professionals, balancing careers demands with development can feel impossible. That\u2019s where UConn\u2019s Center for Advanced Engineering Education\u2019s (CAEE) systems engineering fundamentals course comes in.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This seven-week online course was designed with working professionals in mind. Course content is delivered asynchronously, giving participants the flexibility to engage with the material when it fits their schedule.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To complement their self-paced learning, students can join faculty experts from UConn\u2019s <\/span>Pratt & Whitney Institute for Advanced Systems Engineering<\/span><\/a> for live, virtual \u201clunch and learn\u201d sessions every Tuesday from 12-1 p.m.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This format offers participants the best of both worlds: the ability to study at their own pace, plus the chance to connect directly with instructors and peers in real time.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The course offers a practical, step-by-step introduction to the tools and methods of systems engineering.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over seven weeks, participants will cover an introduction to systems engineering; systems thinking and defining the problem; systems engineering and requirements; control functionality; defining terminology & goals, qualification approach, validation, and verification; relating systems engineering to project and program management, business leaders to technical leaders; and technical management processes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By the end of the course, participants will have a deeper understanding of how to approach complex challenges, define and manage requirements, and build reliable, cost-effective systems.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This non-credit course is ideal for engineers and technical specialists seeking to strengthen their systems approach, project or program managers working across multidisciplinary teams, and industry professionals who want practical frameworks for managing complexity.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
