data-contrast=\"none\">Philosophy Professor Ting-an Lin Receives Best Paper Award<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/philosophy.uconn.edu\/person\/ting-an-lin-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ting-an Lin<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, assistant professor of philosophy,\u00a0received a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aies-conference.com\/2025\/best-papers-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Best Paper Award<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0at the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and the Association for Computing Machinery (AAAI\/ACM)\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aies-conference.com\/2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Conference on AI, Ethics, and Society\u00a0(AIES).<\/span><\/a><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lin co-authored the award-winning paper, \u201cAI, Normality, and Oppressive Things,\u201d with Linus Ta-Lun Huang from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">The paper examines how certain AI systems may subtly support existing social inequalities and emphasizes the need for solutions that address deeper social power dynamics.\u00a0<\/span><span
