UConn John Dempsey Hospital earns 10 consecutive semi-annual A grades for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group. (The Leapfrog Group)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

For the 10th<\/sup> consecutive evaluation period, UConn John Dempsey Hospital earns an \u201cA\u201d hospital safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog that measures patient safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cTen straight Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade \u2018A’s\u2019 is a reflection of the continued focus on patient safety at UConn Health,\u201d says Dr. Scott Allen<\/a>, UConn Health\u2019s chief medical officer. \u201cWe are committed to a journey of achieving high reliability with the goal of zero harm.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are incredibly proud to receive our tenth consecutive \u2018A\u2019 rating from The Leapfrog Group,\u201d says Dr. Andrew Agwunobi<\/a>, UConn Health CEO and EVP of Health Affairs. \u201cThis achievement is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our entire team to patient safety. Earning this recognition for the 10th time reflects the culture of safety that defines UConn Health and our dedication to continuous improvement for the people and communities we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leapfrog assigns an \u201cA,\u201d \u201cB,\u201d \u201cC,\u201d \u201cD\u201d or \u201cF\u201d grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States.<\/p>\n
