Richard Langlois Wins the Alfred and Fay Chandler Book Award<\/span><\/h2>\n

Richard Langlois<\/span><\/a>, professor and head of economics, has won the 2022-2024 Alfred and Fay Chandler Book Award for his book,\u00a0<\/span>The Corporation and the Twentieth Century: the History of American Business Enterprise<\/span><\/i><\/a>\u00a0(Princeton University Press, 2023).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This award is given out once every three years by\u00a0<\/span>The Harvard Business School’s\u00a0<\/span>Business History Review<\/span><\/i><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>to the best book in the field of business history that was published in the United States, as\u00a0determined\u00a0by a vote of the Editorial Advisory Board of Business History Review.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the Alfred and Fay Chandler Book Award,\u00a0<\/span>The\u00a0Corporation\u00a0and the Twentieth Century: the History of American Business Enterprise<\/span><\/i>\u00a0has also\u00a0received\u00a0the Alice Hanson Jones Prize from the Economic History Association and was a finalist for the George R. Terry Book Award of the Academy of Management.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nelson Maldonado-Torres\u00a0Keynote Speaker for UNESCO\u00a0Conference<\/span><\/h2>\n

Nelson Maldonado-Torres,<\/span><\/a>\u00a0professor\u00a0of\u00a0philosophy,\u00a0served as the keynote speaker for the\u00a0<\/span>2025 UNESCO\u00a0Conferencia\u00a0de Am\u00e9rica Latina y\u00a0el\u00a0Caribe<\/span><\/a>, held Oct.\u00a028\u2013Nov.\u00a01 at the University of Puerto Rico, R\u00edo Piedras Campus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The gathering brought together scholars and UNESCO Chairs from across the region\u00a0to\u00a0advance\u00a0goals of fostering dialogue, strengthening collaboration, and developing joint initiatives to support higher education in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Maldonado-Torres is co-chair of the Frantz Fanon Foundation and president emeritus of the Caribbean Philosophical Association (2008-2013).\u00a0\u00a0He has published extensively on topics including modernity and coloniality, Africana and Latin American philosophy, race, religion, ethnic studies, political movements, phenomenology, and liberation ethics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
