University of Connecticut\u2019s Technology Transfer Center Program Director, Donna Shea, Selected for APWA 2017 Donald C. Stone Individual Award<\/p>\n

KANSAS CITY, MO. \u2013 The University of Connecticut\u2019s Technology Transfer Center Program Director, Donna Shea, was recently named as the American Public Works Association (APWA) 2017 Donald C. Stone Excellence in Education award winner. Shea was honored at the Awards Ceremony of the 2017 APWA International Public Works Expo, which took place in Orlando, Florida August 27-30, 2017 at the Orange County Convention Center.<\/p>\n

Established in honor of Donald C. Stone, founder of APWA, to recognize outstanding and meritorious achievement of individuals assisting in the areas of continuing and graduate professional education for public works professionals. This award, established in 1988, is also intended to recognize APWA chapters for their work in delivering educational opportunities for all levels of persons engaged in the delivery of public works services.<\/p>\n

Shea\u2019s experience includes her work as the Director of Connecticut\u2019s Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) at the University of Connecticut for 17 years, where her primary responsibility is the transfer of knowledge and best practice to over 3,000 municipal public works employees each year. She is also the Vice President of the National LTAP Association, representing 58 Local and Tribal Technical Assistance Programs throughout the U.S. She is also a member of several statewide, regional and national committees. The Technology Transfer (T2) Center was established at the University of Connecticut School of Engineering\u2019s Transportation Institute to provide training and technical assistance to Connecticut\u2019s local governments. The Center is sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and the CT Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n
