The University of Connecticut\u2019s <\/span>Office of Undergraduate Research<\/span><\/a> will spotlight student discovery and creativity the week of April 13 during <\/span>Frontiers 2026<\/span><\/b>,<\/span><\/a> a multi\u2011day undergraduate research symposium featuring in\u2011person poster exhibitions and an online showcase.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Held across three UConn campuses (and with an additional online hybrid component this year), the annual Frontiers symposium invites undergraduate researchers from throughout the state to present research and creative projects developed during the academic year in collaboration with faculty mentors. The event reflects the depth and diversity of undergraduate inquiry at UConn, spanning STEM fields, health sciences, social sciences, humanities, and the arts.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Frontiers is one of my favorite days of the year \u2014 you walk into the room, and you can feel the energy of students who have discovered what it means to really engage in their education and own it,\u201d says <\/span>Micah Heumann, director of the Office of Undergraduate Research. \u201c<\/span><\/b>None of it happens without the staff, faculty, and graduate student mentors who open their time, labs, and studios and give undergraduates a genuine seat at the table. Research isn’t just something students learn about at UConn; it’s something they do, alongside remarkable people who believe in them. Frontiers is our chance to celebrate all of it together.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Students participating in Frontiers gain valuable experience presenting their work in a professional, conference\u2011style setting while engaging with peers, faculty, staff, and visitors. For many, the symposium marks a milestone moment \u2014 whether it\u2019s a first public presentation, a capstone project, or research that supports future graduate study or career plans.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the in\u2011person exhibitions, an <\/span>online Frontiers 2026 gallery will launch midweek on the <\/span>Frontiers website<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Members of the UConn community (especially other undergraduate students) are encouraged to attend any of the sessions, view the posters, and support undergraduate researchers as they share the ideas and innovations shaping the future.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
