{"id":24495,"date":"2010-11-09T15:49:50","date_gmt":"2010-11-09T19:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=24495"},"modified":"2010-11-12T08:22:18","modified_gmt":"2010-11-12T13:22:18","slug":"presidential-search-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2010\/11\/presidential-search-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Presidential Search Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During a meeting of UConn\u2019s Board of Trustees on Nov. 9, chairman of the Board Larry McHugh offered an update on the search for the University\u2019s next president. McHugh said that the University has received more than 100 applications and nominations for the position to date. He noted that the applicants and nominees can generally be divided into three categories: current presidents and provosts of top research universities; presidents and deans of smaller institutions; and those who are not currently working in the academic world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most important things we\u2019re going to be looking for are leadership, the ability to relate to our stakeholders, and a strong academic background,\u201d said McHugh. \u201cWe\u2019re going to select a president who can maintain the excellence that UConn has achieved and will keep us on that path going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The committee will meet next on Nov. 15 and will begin reviewing the applications.
