Among other roles, this specialty board defines and refines standards for certification and maintenance of certification in the discipline.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chang Liu<\/strong>, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, has received a prestigious Faculty Early Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation, the agency\u2019s highest honor supporting early-career faculty who demonstrate exceptional potential as both researchers and educators. The award recognizes Liu\u2019s innovative work at the intersection of fluid dynamics, nonlinear systems, and control theory while supporting a research and education program that could improve the performance and efficiency of technologies ranging from aircraft to data centers.<\/p>\n<p><em>In Memoriam<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>William Aho<\/strong>, 108, of Mansfield, Conn., emeritus professor of poultry science, on July 19. He had a long career at UConn as extension leader for the poultry science department and was the oldest UConn retiree at the time of his death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dorothy Bachiocchi<\/strong>, 94, of Jefferson, N.C., a former employee who retired in 1989, on April 15.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dorothy Boisvert<\/strong>, 92, of Eastford, Conn., a retired employee, on July 7.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alan Brush<\/strong>, 91, of Stonington, Conn., a professor emeritus of physiology and neurobiology, on July 12.
