Lorraine Aronson has been named to UConn\u2019s presidential search committee as the representative of Governor-elect Dannel Malloy. Aronson is a member of the Malloy transition team, and previously served as UConn\u2019s vice president and chief financial officer from 1995 until her retirement in 2008.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth Governor Rell and I agreed that it was very important that Governor-elect Malloy play a significant role in choosing UConn\u2019s next president,\u201d said Larry McHugh, chairman of UConn\u2019s Board of Trustees, who is also chairing the search committee. \u201cWe want the incoming governor to have a strong say in the process and be comfortable with the candidates. At the same time, you also want the candidates to get a feel for the next governor.\u201d<\/p>\n
Aronson attended the search committee\u2019s Nov. 15 meeting, during which the pool of applicants and nominees was narrowed to 10 candidates.<\/p>\n
Before coming to UConn, Aronson served as Deputy Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management, Commissioner of the Department of Income Maintenance, and Deputy Commissioner of Education for the state.<\/p>\n
A lawyer admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1977, Aronson\u2019s public commitments also include service on the State Board of Trustees for the Hartford Public Schools, the Connecticut Developmental Disabilities Council, and the Blue Ribbon Commission on State Health Insurance.<\/p>\n
