Mechanical Engineering, \u201880) has been selected assistant city manager to the city of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rockymountnc.gov\/\">Rocky Mount<\/a>, NC. Most recently, Beschler worked for the state of Virginia where he served as director of the Department of General Services. A majority of his previous experience is working in utilities and construction, including 26 years with Yankee Gas Services Co., Connecticut\u2019s largest natural gas utility. Beschler holds an MBA from UConn Business.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25770 alignleft img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/JCallahan.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"118\" height=\"140\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 118px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 118\/140;\" \/>Janet Callahan (B.S. Chemical Engineering, \u201883; M.S. Metallurgy, \u201886; Ph.D. Material Science, \u201890) will become dean of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mtu.edu\/\">Michigan Technological University<\/a>\u2019s College of Engineering on July 1, 2018. Callahan joins Michigan Tech from Boise State University where she is chair and professor of the Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering. Mechanical Engineering, \u201910), P.E., BEMP, AP, BD+C has been promoted to project manager at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bvhis.com\/\">BVH Integrated Services<\/a>. Huff began his career at BVH as an intern in 2008 and joined the company as a Mechanical Engineer upon graduation. Biomedical Engineering, \u201909, \u201810) was selected from 1,600 Elbit Systems of America enterprise employees as one of three 2017 Outstanding Employee Award winners. Recognized as a top-performing engineer and commended for his high ethical standards and leadership, Leknes is senior systems engineer at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kmcsystems.com\/\">KMC Systems<\/a>, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems of America.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25779 alignleft img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/152708292776597615-2-e1527083751710.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"235\" height=\"199\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 235px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 235\/199;\" \/>Jordan Manos (B.S. Civil Engineering, &#8217;94) is a <a href=\"https:\/\/servicetoamericamedals.org\/peoples-choice\/index.php\">2018 People&#8217;s Choice Award<\/a> finalist. Known as the \u201cOscars\u201d of government service, the Sammies honor noteworthy and inspiring accomplishments by federal employees. Manos, an engineer with the Department of Veterans Affairs on temporary assignment to FEMA, earned his nomination by improving the system used to assess flood damage from hurricanes and other major storms. His contributions helped residents receive aid more quickly and saved the government an estimated $20M in appraisal costs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25774 alignleft img-responsive lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/SPierre-Louis.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"123\" height=\"185\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 123px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 123\/185;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Samuel Pierre-Louis (B.S. Mechanical Engineering and Materials Engineering, \u201897) has been named vice president, Information Technology, at <a href=\"www.firstenergycorp.com\">FirstEnergy Corp<\/a>. He has more than 20 years&#8217; experience in information technology services, strategic planning and organizational management. Prior to joining FirstEnergy, Pierre-Louis was vice president, chief information security officer, at Providence St. Joseph Health in Irvine, CA. Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering, \u201884) has been named director of Sales of the Lumirror\u00ae Polyester Film Division at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toraytpa.com\/\">Toray Plastics<\/a> (America), Inc. Turano joined Toray in 2016 as the National Sales Manager of the Division. Prior to joining Toray, he worked with Danafilms, Consolidated Container Company, Polycel de Mexico, and Printpack.
