{"id":29842,"date":"2020-06-10T12:33:15","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T12:33:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/?p=29842"},"modified":"2024-08-10T20:54:43","modified_gmt":"2024-08-11T00:54:43","slug":"uconn-engineering-joins-30-universities-in-offering-boot-camp-scholarships-for-underrepresented-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2020\/06\/uconn-engineering-joins-30-universities-in-offering-boot-camp-scholarships-for-underrepresented-groups\/","title":{"rendered":"UConn Engineering Joins 30 Universities in Offering Boot Camp Scholarships for Underrepresented Groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>By: Eli Freund, Editorial Communications Manager, UConn School of Engineering\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">University of Connecticut School of Engineering, in partnership with 30 nonprofit universities across the country and our partner 2U, is expanding access to our boot camp courses in Coding<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0through a $3 million <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Boot Camp Scholarship Fund<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Underrepresented people of color and women who have experienced recent job loss or economic hardship are eligible to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trilogyed.com\/students\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">apply<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for $2,500 towards the cost of a course. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our boot camp courses have advanced the careers of diverse learners in highly relevant technology fields, and we\u2019re excited to be a part of an effort to expand pathways to work for those who have been affected most.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More than 40 million Americans have filed for unemployment as a result of the pandemic, and the economic devastation has disproportionately affected people of color and women.
