Madonna Endowed Chair in Sustainability and the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Professor in Sustainable Energy to campus on Aug. 23.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>By Olivia Drake, Written Communications Specialist<\/strong><\/p>\n<div><span class=\"normaltextrun\">Professor of Chemical Engineering Xiao-Dong Zhou believes that sustainable energy technologies hold the key to mitigating climate change and ensuring a resilient future. <\/span><span class=\"eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">As the incoming director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.uconn.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for Clean Energy Engineering (C2E2)<\/a> at the University of Connecticut, Zhou aspires to catalyze the widespread adoption of clean energy sources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote environmental stewardship by focusing on the development of advanced materials, efficient processes, and innovative solutions.<\/span><span class=\"eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">\u201cMy goals as director of C2E2 revolve around achieving elevated research outcomes, empowering students through education, fostering effective partnerships, making a positive environmental impact, and expanding outreach efforts,\u201d he said. \u201cI also plan to create enriching experiences for undergraduate and graduate students by involving them in cutting-edge research and providing opportunities for skill development in the field of sustainable energy.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">He&#8217;ll also focus on rebranding C2E2 into a university-wide institute to amplify its influence and reach.
