As we at the University and fans across Connecticut look forward to tonight\u2019s NCAA men\u2019s basketball championship game \u2013 and hope for a UConn victory \u2013 we wanted to take a moment to express a few words of caution.<\/p>\n
Winning a national championship is an incredible thrill and an honor for any university. We as a community could not be more proud of our players, coaches, and fans as the season draws to a dramatic close. If the Huskies are victorious tonight, we fully expect the UConn student body to celebrate that victory \u2013 just as we\u2019ll be doing.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, too often at campuses across the nation post-game celebrations have gone from exuberant to destructive. Nothing can be gained from harmful, destructive, or criminal actions. However, anyone who engages in this sort of behavior does have a great deal to lose, including risking arrest and possible expulsion from the University.<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t allow one bad decision to sully a Husky victory and derail your college career, especially on a night that is supposed to be fun and exciting for all of us at UConn. Celebrate, but do so responsibly, with respect for people and property.<\/p>\n
