This year\u2019s theme was <em>Past, Present and Future &#8211; <\/em>celebrating 50 years of greatness while looking forward to another fabulous 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>The day-long festival brought together several successful Health Center programs along with some new entries.\u00a0Recognition awards, art exhibits,\u00a0scavenger hunting and hands-on activities were just a few of the day\u2019s attractions.\u00a0There was a special exhibit with information about <a href=\"http:\/\/biosciencect.uchc.edu\/\">Bioscience Connecticut<\/a> and a three-dimensional model of the new hospital tower. There were also videos and a slide show chronicling the Health Center\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Norris with the Information Technology Department was honored with the <a href=\"http:\/\/employees.uchc.edu\/engagement\/recognition\/deckers\/index.html\">Dr. Peter J. Deckers Employee Appreciation Award<\/a>. The annual award recognizes one outstanding Health Center employee who consistently goes above and beyond, displaying passion and commitment, to help meet the goals of the organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a very well-deserved honor for Bob, and truly describes the value he brings to the IT Department and to the Health Center,\u201d said Sandra Armstrong, chief information officer. \u201cWe would not have been able to successfully implement the Banner Finance\/HR and SciQuest Purchasing systems on schedule without his significant expertise and his willingness to work whatever hours it took to keep the project moving forward. His customer service skills are exceptional and his good humor, under even the most trying and stressful conditions, was simply exemplary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other nominees for the Deckers Award included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vickie Alston, Transitional Care Manager, Correctional Managed Health Care<\/li>\n<li>Nancy Dupont, Infection Prevention Specialist, Quality Programs<\/li>\n<li>Elaine Chojnowski, Administrative Assistant, School of Dental Medicine, Dean\u2019s Office<\/li>\n<li>Captain Daryl Byrne, Public Safety, Fire Department<\/li>\n<li>Angelica Molina, Medical Assistant, Division of Urology, Department of Surgery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/employees.uchc.edu\/\">Know Better Place<\/a> also held a special <a href=\"http:\/\/employees.uchc.edu\/engagement\/recognition\/people\/paws_award.html\">PAWS<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/employees.uchc.edu\/engagement\/recognition\/people\/team_award.html\">Team Award<\/a> ceremony recognizing and honoring employees who consistently perform above and beyond the expectations of their jobs.
