With the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) site visit just days away, the medical school hosted an informational fair in the academic lobby Friday.<\/p>\n
The fair was an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to ask questions about how the medical school has been changing and evolving since the last LCME visit in 2010.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is our chance for getting everyone excited, ready and knowledgeable,\u201d said Dr. Suzanne Rose, senior associate dean for education. \u201cThis is a serious matter, but you have to have a little fun with it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The LCME is the accrediting body for all North American medical schools and has established a set of standards for medical school accreditation. During regularly scheduled site visits, an LCME evaluation team assesses each school in terms of compliance with these standards and later issues its report. UConn\u2019s site visit is scheduled for February 27 \u2013 29.<\/p>\n
During the visit, LCME representatives will have scheduled meetings with invited participants but Rose says all faculty, staff and students should be prepared to answer questions about the school and the changes that have been made.<\/p>\n
The fair helped prepare them by featuring educational displays about each standard the school is addressing and a short quiz about what has been accomplished.<\/p>\n
