(UConn Health Center Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>If cancer is in your genes, <a href=\"http:\/\/cancer.uchc.edu\/physicians\/bios\/schwartz.html\">Robin Schwartz<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/cancer.uchc.edu\/physicians\/bios\/stroop.html\">Jennifer Stroop<\/a> want to help you find out about it.<\/p>\n<p>The UConn Health Center\u2019s certified genetic counselors have been traveling to hospitals throughout Connecticut over the last several months to speak about cancer genomics best practices.<\/p>\n<p>The talks are part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ct.gov\/dph\/cwp\/view.asp?a=3130&amp;Q=478922&amp;PM=1\">Healthy People 2020 Action Project<\/a> funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the Connecticut Department of Public Health. (Janine Gelineau\/UConn Health Center Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cOur presentation\u2019s objectives include identifying risk factors, ascertaining when to make referrals for genetic counseling and testing, and recognizing the public health and clinical importance of identifying individuals at high risk for hereditary cancer syndromes,\u201d Schwartz says.<\/p>\n<p>Schwartz or Stroop so far have presented at seven hospitals in the state, with four others planned, including at the UConn Health Center <strong>Thursday,<\/strong> <strong>June 7<\/strong>.
