The Stage II Watch includes <strong>mandatory<\/strong> as well as voluntary water conservation measures.<\/p>\n<p>The following <strong>mandatory <\/strong>conservation measures are effective immediately:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lawn watering for all University and non-University users is limited to four hours or less per day and only between the hours of 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.\u00a0 Athletic fields will be allowed up two hours of water per day during the same hours.<\/li>\n<li>Filling of public or private pools must be provided via water delivered from another source.<\/li>\n<li>Washing of motor vehicles is banned. The University\u2019s wash bay will be closed until further notice.<\/li>\n<li>The use of ornamental or display fountains is banned.<\/li>\n<li>The use of water for washing and wetting down streets, sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas is banned unless required by the local public health authority.<\/li>\n<li>The use of UConn water for dust control at construction sites is banned. Contractors are required to provide water for dust control from off-site.<\/li>\n<li>The use of hydrant sprinkler caps is banned.<\/li>\n<li>Water main flushing will only be used to address water quality issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following voluntary conservation measures remain in effect:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Take shorter showers.<\/li>\n<li>Run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads.<\/li>\n<li>Use water only as needed when washing dishes, shaving, and brushing teeth.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid power washing buildings and washing vehicles with public water.<\/li>\n<li>Raise the thermostat in UConn buildings, particularly when leaving at night.<\/li>\n<li>Immediately report leaky fixtures in UConn buildings to Facilities Operations: 860-486-3113.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>UConn\u2019s water supply remains adequate to meet current and forecasted system demands and any emergency needs, such as firefighting.<\/p>\n<p>The University is actively monitoring conditions and will continue to provide updates as conditions change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Voluntary measures remain in effect.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":16,"featured_media":62531,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_crdt_document":"","wds_primary_category":0,"wds_primary_series":0,"wds_primary_attribution":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"magazine-issues":[],"coauthors":[39],"class_list":["post-62809","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"pp_statuses_selecting_workflow":false,"pp_workflow_action":"current","pp_status_selection":"publish","acf":[],"publishpress_future_action":{"enabled":false,"date":"2026-04-25 18:49:01","action":"change-status","newStatus":"draft","terms":[],"taxonomy":"category","extraData":[]},"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":{"enabledWorkflows":[]},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/posts\/62809","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/users\/16"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=62809"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/posts\/62809\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":62811,"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/posts\/62809\/revisions\/62811"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/media\/62531"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=62809"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=62809"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=62809"},{"taxonomy":"magazine-issue","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/magazine-issues?post=62809"},{"taxonomy":"author","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/wp-rest\/wp\/v2\/coauthors?post=62809"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
