\"UConn\/SNY<\/a>SNY has named Meghan Pattyson Culmo \u201992 (CLAS) and Kara Wolters \u201997 (CLAS), two former Husky stars and longtime basketball analysts, as part of the team that will televise women\u2019s basketball games when the 2012-2013 season tips off on Nov. 11.<\/p>\n

Culmo, a former team captain and assistant coach, will serve as the game analyst during 20 broadcasts on SNY with play-by-play announcer Andrew Catalon and sideline reporter Kerith Burke. Wolters, a member of the Huskies\u2019 first NCAA Championship team and an analyst for the past six years on the UConn Radio Network, will serve as the studio analyst with host Gary Apple, for pre-game, half-time, and post-game shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have assembled a formidable and highly experienced group of on-air talent who will bring expert analysis, unique insight, and compelling story-telling,\u201d says Curt Gowdy Jr., senior vice president of production and executive producer of SNY.<\/p>\n

Prior to the Nov. 11 contest against the College of Charleston, SNY will air a special pre-game show featuring in-depth analysis of the upcoming season, including interviews with players and coaches, and will highlight key players to watch.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will provide exceptional coverage for the best women\u2019s basketball fans in the nation,\u201d says Culmo, who has been a color analyst on radio and CPTV for more than a decade, including serving as host for The Geno Auriemma Show. \u201cI cannot wait to get started working with Andrew, Kerith, Gary, and Kara \u2013 great people who will work so hard to bring the best product to the air for our loyal fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolters, the 1997 National Player of the Year in women\u2019s college basketball, is one of only seven players to have won an NCAA Championship (1995), WNBA championship (1999), and Olympic gold medal (2000).<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled to know that a broad audience will have the opportunity to experience the championship caliber of the UConn women\u2019s basketball program,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Catalon has play-by-play experience covering National Football League games on CBS and NBC, the Master\u2019s golf and U.S. Open tennis tournaments, and has worked three Olympics for NBC, including the 2012 London Games.<\/p>\n

“It’s an honor to be working with the top women’s basketball program in the country,” says Catalon. \u201cGrowing up in the Northeast, I fully understand the passion UConn fans have for this team and that is very exciting. We will respect and honor that tradition.\u201d<\/p>\n
