{"id":70460,"date":"2012-12-20T15:27:33","date_gmt":"2012-12-20T20:27:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=70460"},"modified":"2012-12-21T08:25:18","modified_gmt":"2012-12-21T13:25:18","slug":"bringing-holiday-cheer-to-the-patient-floors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2012\/12\/bringing-holiday-cheer-to-the-patient-floors\/","title":{"rendered":"Bringing Holiday Cheer to the Patient Floors"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-bottom: 18px;\">[yframe url=&#8217;http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wyssyNfjOcY&amp;feature=youtu.be&#8217;]<\/div>\n<p>For a third year now, some University of Connecticut Health Center students have gotten together to form an a cappella band of carolers to serenade patients this holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s group was led by Arija Weddle, a fourth-year student at the UConn School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResponse was overwhelmingly positive,\u201d Weddle says. \u201cStudents really love to have activities that break up the long hours of studying, and getting to sing for patients offers us a chance to participate in a creative activity as well as have a sense of giving back or spreading holiday cheer to those who must be in the hospital, and often away from their families, during the holiday season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The singers rehearsed their repertoire of seven songs over the weekend in Keller Auditorium.
