{"id":72976,"date":"2013-02-19T08:42:08","date_gmt":"2013-02-19T13:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/?p=72976"},"modified":"2013-02-25T09:41:44","modified_gmt":"2013-02-25T14:41:44","slug":"husky-fans-turn-pink-to-raise-money-for-cancer-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2013\/02\/husky-fans-turn-pink-to-raise-money-for-cancer-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Husky Fans Turn Pink to Raise Money for Cancer Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[yframe url=&#8217;http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UpqF8Vfcs54&#8242;]<\/p>\n<p>The University of Connecticut women&#8217;s basketball team is helping <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uconnhuskies.com\/sports\/w-baskbl\/spec-rel\/021513aab.html\">raise money for cancer research<\/a> by taking part in the seventh annual Play 4Kay initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Play 4Kay is a national fundraising effort, in partnership with the Women&#8217;s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation for Cancer Research, in memory of former North Carolina State University head coach Kay Yow, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and battled the disease until 2009.<\/p>\n<p>During the Huskies&#8217; game against top-ranked Baylor on Monday in Hartford, fans attending the matchup received a free pink t-shirt, courtesy of AAA.
