Whether it\u2019s by simply reading along or excitedly planning your own Roaring Twenties theme viewing party, there are many opportunities to take part in the UConn Reads experience. This year\u2019s selection, The Great Gatsby, <\/i>is prompting a variety of events both on and off campus. A few highlights include:<\/p>\n

Gatsby Revisited in the Age of the One Percent<\/strong>
\nThe University of Connecticut\u2019s Contemporary Art Galleries will present Gatsby Revisited in the Age of the One Percent, a group exhibition featuring internationally known and exhibited artists. A free symposium on the show’s theme with artists, historians, literary authors, and economists will take place April 15 at 4 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Gatsby Speakeasy\u2019 Party
\n<\/b>The Bean Team, along with the UConn Reads Steering Committee, is celebrating this semester’s UConn Reads book by hosting a 1920s themed reception at the William Benton Museum of Art on March 1 from 6 to 10 p.m.<\/b> This event is paired with the Benton’s current gallery exhibit, Millionaires and Mechanics, Bootleggers and Flappers: Speaking of The Great Gatsby<\/i><\/a>, and will have catered food, live music, and dancing.<\/p>\n

Update March 1: The Speakeasy Party is sold out.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018Fitzgerald on Film\u2019 Matinees<\/strong>
\nView the 1974 film featuring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow on Sunday afternoons at the Student Union Theatre. Specific dates for showings can be found at uconnreads.uconn.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A Novel Group of Huskies
\n<\/b>UConn alumni are encouraged to join in with more than 400 readers across 29 states and four countries who are reading The Great Gatsby<\/i> as part of the book club \u201cA Novel Group of Huskies.\u201d Participate in the discussion and learn about upcoming events at anovelgroupofhuskies.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
