Murphy Featured in Renowned Dermatology Publication<\/h2>\n

Dr. Michael Murphy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Congratulations to Dr. Michael Murphy<\/a> whose recently published book \u201cDiagnostic and Prognostic Biomarkers and Therapeutic Targets in Melanoma\u201d<\/i> was reviewed in the (http:\/\/www.springer.com\/medicine\/pathology\/book\/978-1-60761-432-6<\/a>) issue of Human Pathology<\/i><\/a>, a highly ranked and cited Pathology journal.<\/p>\n

In the book, Murphy and other experts review recent major advances in melanoma biomarker research. Developments in genomic and proteomic technologies are shedding light on the molecular pathobiology of melanoma, and uncovering diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for this deadly disease. The book highlights how UConn Health Center is at the forefront of diagnosis and management of patients with melanoma.<\/p>\n

\u2018Miles for Healthier Lifestyles\u2019 a Medical Student Success<\/h2>\n

UConn\u2019s American Medical Association chapter reports more than 4 million steps taken by students and faculty who completed Health Center\u2019s \u201cMiles for Healthier Lifestyles\u201d<\/a> walking challenge April 22-28, good for a collective 2,006 miles walked.<\/p>\n

    Mandeep Virk Selected for Resident Leadership Forum<\/h2>\n

    Mandeep Virk has won the Ludwig J. Pyrtek M.D. Research Paper Distinction Award 2013 for the paper “Systemic administration of sclerostin antibody enhances new bone formation in a rat critical sized femoral defect.”<\/p>\n

    Virk has also been <\/b>selected for the AOA (American Orthopaedic Association) Resident Leadership Forum to be held this month in Denver, Colorado. The AOA Resident Leadership Forum acknowledges PGY4 residents as young orthopaedic leaders by giving them an opportunity to develop their leadership skills.<\/p>\n
