Dozens of models in some of the hottest fashions worked it on the runway at Westfarms\u2019 Lord & Taylor at a recent fashion show hosted by the University of Connecticut Health Center Auxiliary<\/a>.<\/p>\n

More than 100 guests were treated to fashions modeled by UConn Health Center staff or family members. Models wore attire by designers such as Michael Kors, Enzo Angiolini, Calvin Klein, Adrianna Papell and many others. \u201cWhat started out as a whim by volunteering to participate in the Auxiliary fashion show turned into a night of glamour, amazing outfits, and incredible fun. Wearing an Adrianna Papell dress along with Michael Kors shoes was fabulous, and watching the other models enjoy themselves made for a spectacular and enjoyable event,\u201d says model Stacey Rich, administrative officer with Correctional Managed Health Care.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe event had a dual purpose,\u201d says Auxiliary Facilitator Irene Engel. The monies raised from the show will support the cancer survivorship program and the patient assessment fund at the UConn Health Center\u2019s Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center,” says Engel.<\/p>\n

The patient assessment fund was recently established as a flexible fund to assist patients with needs such as medical co-pays, medications, health insurance, travel expenses, groceries, utilities, rent\/mortgage or other necessary expenses.<\/p>\n

Additionally, anyone who purchased a ticket to the fashion show is entitled to a one-year membership to the Auxiliary. \u201cThe Auxiliary membership base has not had significant new membership growth within the last few years and we thought this event would be a great opportunity to generate new membership and reconnect with the current members in a fun way,\u201d says Auxiliary board member Margo Granger.<\/p>\n

Guests were also treated to an evening of private shopping at Lord & Taylor, mini-makeovers, and dozens of door prizes and giveaways. \u201cThe event was a hit! It was so nice to mingle with fellow co-workers, family and friends, while enjoying fashion; two of my favorite things to do,\u201d says guest Alexis Crean, who works in the Health Center’s Human Resources Department. “To think that we could see such beautiful fashions and make a difference is definitely a win-win in my book. Also, I was pleasantly surprised that the evening included a one-year membership. I always was interested in the Auxiliary and now I have the opportunity to be part of it,” added Crean.<\/p>\n
