In continuation of its effort to grow its clinical faculty, UConn Health has recruited more than 50 physicians, dental surgeons, and clinical psychologists since July 2012.<\/p>\n

The added clinician depth supports the overall direction UConn Health is taking as Bioscience Connecticut<\/a> takes shape. In addition to adding and modernizing clinical space on campus, this includes strategies to make clinical services more easily accessible to patients and referring physicians, increase the medical and dental school class sizes by 30 percent, and expanding the institution\u2019s capability to provide postdoctoral training.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe grow our faculty practice to meet today\u2019s health care needs, with a sharp eye on the future, both in terms of educating tomorrow\u2019s practitioners and advancing science to improve health care for everyone,\u201d says Dr. Denis Lafreniere<\/a>, medical director of the UConn Medical Group.<\/p>\n

Among the additions are Dr. David Steffens<\/a>, a geriatric psychiatrist who chairs the Department of Psychiatry, and Dr. Pamela Moore<\/a>, a family medicine practitioner who is anchoring the UConn Health primary care services in Storrs Center.<\/p>\n
