{"id":9130,"date":"2011-10-11T19:30:36","date_gmt":"2011-10-11T19:30:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/?p=9130"},"modified":"2025-01-31T10:48:56","modified_gmt":"2025-01-31T15:48:56","slug":"10th-annual-technology-transfer-expo-another-great-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.uconn.edu\/2011\/10\/10th-annual-technology-transfer-expo-another-great-success\/","title":{"rendered":"10th Annual Technology Transfer Expo &#8211; Another Great Success!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Mary McCarthy<\/p>\n<p>On September 21st, the sun peeked out from a week&#8217;s worth of clouds to shine on\u00a0the 10th Annual Technology Transfer Expo in Storrs.\u00a0 The event, sponsored and coordinated by CTI&#8217;s Technology Transfer Center (T2 Center), gathered more than 400 participants.\u00a0 Those in attendance\u00a0shared in the demonstrations, educational sessions and networking that make this event so popular.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9161\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9161\" style=\"width: 280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/2011-expo-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9161 img-responsive lazyload\" title=\"2011 expo 1\" data-src=\"http:\/\/d45h139.public.uconn.edu\/sites\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/2011-expo-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"222\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 280px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 280\/222;\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9161\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Participants enjoy the weather while sharing best practices<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Each year, the T2 Center uses this opportunity to provide educational outreach to state and local transportation professionals on the latest initiatives and regulations affecting the transportation community in Connecticut.\u00a0 This year, the focus was on the Federal Highway Administration&#8217;s Everyday Counts (EDC) Initiative and\u00a0the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection&#8217;s\u00a0Educational Outreach efforts.\u00a0Exhibitors shared information on new technologies and processes such as Connecticut&#8217;s use of the Safety Edge, a new approach to hot-in-place recycling, innovations in guard rail design, environmental guidelines for fleet maintenance garages, and cost saving techniques in winter maintenance operations.<\/p>\n<p>Safety is always a theme throughout the event as well.\u00a0 Several exhibitors\u00a0shared information on\u00a0the latest in both operational and roadway safety technology, and municipal transportation professionals participated in the\u00a0Dr. Jack Stephens Memorial Safety Challenge.\u00a0 The towns of Colchester, Hebron and Bloomfield took top honors.\u00a0 Attendees also had the opportunity to test their snowplow skills at the driving simulator on loan from the Rhode Island DOT and LTAP Center.<\/p>\n<p>A special thanks goes out to all the volunteers and exhibitors\u00a0who helped make this day such a success.\u00a0 We look forward to another great show next year!\u00a0 To learn more about the Expo and the other programs of the Connecticut Technology Transfer Center, visit our website:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.t2center.uconn.edu\">www.t2center.uconn.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On September 21st, the sun peeked out from a week&#8217;s worth of clouds to shine on the 10th Annual Technology Transfer Expo in Storrs.
